Examinations

Large, small, exotic, or farm animals, we are happy to offer full physical examinations as well as preventative care.  Our doctors will answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding your pet's health.

Spay & Neuter

Cats and Dogs are scheduled for spay or neuter surgery any time after 6 months of age.  We typically begin castrating male horses at 10-12 months of age.

In-House Laboratory

We have full in-house IDEXX laboratory capabilities to meet the most basic and emergency needs.  We also contract with outside reference laboratories for specialized testing.

Vaccinations

Preventative core vaccinations are highly recommended for all animals. Please speak with one of our doctors regarding those vaccinations required by state law as well as those recommended for your individual pet depending on their risk factors for exposure.

PLEASE REMEMBER: It is very important that young animals receive their full set of initial immunizations!

Surgery

We offer a full range of routine surgeries, along with more advanced orthopedic and soft tissue procedures.  Ear-cropping and feline declaw surgeries are also available. *Pre-surgical consult may be required for fracture repair using traditional and locking technologies. Cranial concrete repair. We offer both extracapsular repair and TPLO.

Rehabilitation and alternative therapies.

Rehabilitation is the standard of care for any human patient who sustains an injury or has surgery--it should be for our pets as well. Our clinic offers a fully certified CCRT and a CCRA to assist your pet during recovery. We offer hydrotherapy (modified underwater treadmill) along with Acupuncture, pulsed electromagnetic field therapy, cold laser, Rock Tape, and many other modalities. Rehabilitation applies not only to injured pets, athletes, and working dogs should have regular assessments as well. In addition, pain control should be an important component of care for any of our senior pets. Dr. Schumacher is now IVCA certified in animal chiropractic as well.

Dental Care

New studies show how important proper dental care is for your pet's general comfort along with their overall health and well-being.  We offer a full range of small animal dental prophylaxis along with extractions and root canals if necessary.  Horses also suffer from dental pain which can result in many different health problems--including colic.  Dental disease in horses can also have a large impact on athletic performance.  We offer PowerFloating for all our equine patients.

Radiology

We provide the clearest and most detailed images possible. Routine films along with specialized soft tissue, orthopedic, and OFA films are available. We also perform myelograms DR, CR, portable and dental radiographs along with other contrast studies if necessary.

Boarding

We do not routinely board healthy pets in our hospital but are closely associated with Argus Pet Center (located right next door!).  It is a great comfort to many owners to know that the Doctor is located nearby in case of emergency.

Endoscopy

Endoscopy is an advanced, minimally-invasive technique used to examine the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract, and less commonly the respiratory system in your pets.  Endoscopy gives the doctor a "bird's eye view" of the patient's problem.  We can also perform minor procedures and obtain biopsy samples through the endoscope.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is another minimally invasive technique to provide more detailed imaging of internal injuries or other problems.  Ultrasound can also be used to obtain guided biopsy samples and assist in treatments.  Additionally, Ultrasound is used for one of our favorite procedures--diagnosing new pregnancies!  Dogs and cats can be ultrasounded for pregnancy as early as 21 days following the last breeding date, horses can be checked 17 days post-breeding. We recently purchased a new ultrasound machine - providing high-quality images with more precise diagnostic capabilities.

EKG

EKG, or electrocardiography, is a special procedure to assist doctors in diagnosing or detailing a patient's heart disease.  Many older dogs suffer from cardiac murmurs--it is important to determine which patients will benefit from treatment.

Microchipping

We carry 15 digit ISO-compatible Home Again Microchips along with the newest scanner.

*If you find a lost or stray pet, please bring them by, we are happy to scan them at no charge*

House calls - some services and procedures may be performed during a home visit with advance arrangements. Remember that we also have a mobile clinic in Hatch every month.

Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open, which technically is 24/7 due to the on-call services available to established clients. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come in immediately.
