What To Expect
We love spending time with you and your pets. We are accepting new clients for *wellness care only*—please feel free to reach out if you are interested in establishing care.
Due to high demand, we continue to schedule anywhere from 4-6 weeks in advance for most regular appointments. Please help us by scheduling elective procedures and wellness care in advance. This ensures that we reserve adequate space and time to address all of your pets’ needs.
We are so happy to have clients and pets back in the building—we will continue to offer curbside service for those clients who prefer to remain in their vehicle. Please just let us know what you would prefer!
We know that unplanned injuries or illness will happen. The staff works hard to ensure that several “drop-off” appointments are kept open each day for urgent or time-sensitive issues. Established clients will be given preference in these instances. We will still accept limited number of walk-in emergencies (regular/established clients only) but please be aware that these unexpected appointments may incur an additional urgent-care fee. Remember that the doctors and staff are often working through lunch and after closing to care for these patients in addition to their normal workload.
House-calls for both small and large animal care are available with advanced scheduling during regular working hours ONLY. Large animal clients should be aware that we can no longer offer routine house or farm visits after hours. It is not possible for the doctor to leave animals at the clinic unattended. Please make advance arrangements to transport your horse or livestock to the clinic in case of an emergency.
Regretfully, we can only provide after-hours and emergency care to current clients (accounts that have been active within the last calendar year). If the clinic is at capacity or more advanced care is required, referral to other hospitals is made with the best interests of your pet in mind. EMERGENCIES MUST COMMUNICATE VIA TELEPHONE. DO NOT EMAIL OR TEXT IF YOU HAVE A VETERINARY EMERGENCY.
Current clients who are requesting prescription refills, regular wellness care, non-emergency appointments, or have other questions that are not urgent in nature are encouraged to utilize our Otto app or email the reception desk at schumachervetclinic@gmail.com as opposed to calling.
